Installation Engineer
£30,000 – £40,000 DOE | Mon–Fri, 8:30am–5:00pm | Field-Based | Permanent
If you’re the kind of engineer who likes being trusted to get on with the job, enjoys variety, and takes pride in doing things properly, this role will feel like a breath of fresh air.
This is a hands-on Installation Engineer position with a long-established, highly respected security specialist. You’ll be out on site, installing quality products, representing a business that genuinely cares about workmanship and customer experience.
The Business
Our client is a well-established Chesterfield-based company delivering practical security and access solutions to homes, businesses and public sector environments.
Their work ranges from straightforward lock and door installations through to complex, high-security systems for schools, hospitals and commercial premises. No shortcuts. No rushed jobs. Just solid engineering and solutions that last.
The Role
This is a field-based position within the Service & Installations team. Once fully trained, you’ll be trusted to work independently, managing your own jobs and representing the business on customer sites.
You’ll be responsible for:
-
Installing a range of security products including doors, locks, manhole covers and access solutions
-
Working across customer sites throughout the Midlands and Yorkshire (with occasional UK-wide travel)
-
Lone working once competent, with support always available
-
Dealing with customers professionally and confidently on-site
-
Ensuring all work is completed to a high standard, first time
There may be very occasional overnight stays (think once or twice a year), always with plenty of notice so you can plan ahead.
Flexibility is key – core hours are 8:30am–5:00pm, but if the job needs longer, every extra hour is paid.
What We’re Looking For
This role suits someone who’s technically capable, self-sufficient and comfortable being customer-facing.
You’ll ideally have:
-
Experience in installation, engineering, security, doors, locks or similar field-based work
-
Confidence working alone and managing your own workload
-
Strong practical skills and problem-solving ability
-
A professional, friendly approach with customers
Training and development are provided – this is about long-term fit, not ticking every box on day one.
The Package (Because It Matters)
Let’s talk benefits – this is a strong one:
-
£30,000 – £40,000 basic salary depending on experience
-
Christmas bonus
-
Paid overtime (time during the week, time and a half at weekends)
-
Company van & tools provided
-
Full uniform provided
-
Holidays increase with each year of service
-
Free onsite parking at head office
-
Fully equipped kitchen/canteen
-
Regular company days out – race days, events, meals out
You’re joining a business that invests in its people and backs them to do their job properly.
The Opportunity
This is a rare opening with a stable, successful employer offering genuine progression, skill development and long-term security. If you’re tired of being micromanaged, rushed, or undervalued – this is your move.
