Salary: £16.08 per hour, increasing after successful completion of training
Hours: 48 hours per week
Shift Pattern: 6am–2pm / 2pm–10pm / 10pm–6am, rotational, including some weekends
Employment Type: Full-time

We’re looking for a Quarry Production Operative to join a growing industrial operation near Matlock.

If you’ve worked in manufacturing, production, processing or another environment where machinery, output, quality and consistency matter, this could be an excellent opportunity to transfer your skills into the quarrying industry.

You’ll be part of the team responsible for keeping the production process running smoothly — monitoring equipment, checking output, identifying problems and making sure everything is operating safely and efficiently.

The Job

This is a role for someone who likes being involved in the process rather than standing on the sidelines.

You’ll be responsible for:

  • Monitoring production machinery and processes.

  • Checking that equipment is operating correctly.

  • Monitoring material flow and production performance.

  • Carrying out regular production checks.

  • Recording production information accurately.

  • Identifying issues before they become larger problems.

  • Reporting machinery faults and process abnormalities.

  • Working with colleagues to maintain production targets.

  • Operating plant and equipment as required.

  • Driving and manoeuvring articulated lorries when trained.

  • Following health, safety, environmental and quality procedures.

A Role With Variety

The operation is developing, so this isn’t a position where you’ll simply repeat exactly the same task every shift.

You’ll learn the different parts of the production process and gain experience with machinery, plant and vehicle operation.

The first six weeks will be worked on days, allowing you to learn the site, equipment and production processes before joining the rotational shift system.

You’ll then work:

6am–2pm | 2pm–10pm | 10pm–6am

Some weekend working will be required.

The overall training programme is expected to take approximately four months, after which your pay will increase following successful completion of the required training.

Who Would Suit This Role?

We’re particularly interested in people who have worked in: Manufacturing, Production, Engineering environments, Warehousing or logistics, Agriculture, Construction, Quarrying or aggregates

However, industry experience isn’t essential.

What really matters is that you are switched-on, dependable and keen to learn.

You must also be:

  • Safety conscious.

  • Reliable and hardworking.

  • Comfortable working outdoors.

  • Flexible with shifts and weekend work.

  • Willing to undertake training and gain qualifications.

  • Comfortable working around heavy machinery and vehicles.

  • Able to work both independently and as part of a team.

A full UK driving licence is essential due to the location and requirements of the role.

What You’ll Get

  • £16.08 per hour initially.

  • Pay increase following successful training.

  • Full training programme.

  • All relevant courses and tickets provided.

  • Six weeks of initial day-shift training.

  • Training on heavy plant and articulated vehicles.

  • Opportunity to develop production and quarrying skills.

  • Long-term career progression.

  • The opportunity to become part of a growing operation.

This is an outdoor industrial position, so you’ll need to be prepared to work in all weather conditions.

Full PPE, training and appropriate safety procedures will be provided.

The operation is closed on Christmas Day. Bank holiday working may be required, with time off in lieu provided where applicable.
